Meet Jason, the person behind Rewind

I'm Jason Smith, and I personally handle every tape, reel and photo that comes through Rewind VHS Transfers in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

I grew up around tape decks

In the 1990s my dad ran Discopy Services, a multimedia duplication business. I spent a lot of my childhood around tape decks, disc burners and boxes of media waiting to be copied. That's where I learned that the thing on the tape matters a lot more than the tape itself.

Today I run Rewind out of Spring Hill. I named my disc duplication service Discopy to keep his company's name alive.

Why one person, not a warehouse

When you send your tapes to a big company, they go into a system. When you send them to Rewind, they come to me. I inspect each one, repair it if I can, transfer it in real time and keep you updated along the way. If you have a question, you call or text me, not a support line.

Families tell me the best part isn't the files. It's seeing a birthday, a first Christmas or a voice they'd forgotten. That's why I treat every tape like it's the only copy, because it usually is.
